On 5/12/11, Sage’s little body finally decided enough was enough and GOD called him home where he would be whole and healthy, no more issues with food allergies or intestinal problems. I know that Sharon, Pharaoh, Max, Molly and Kyrie met him at the gate and are busy showing him all the fun things he can to do and all the yummy stuff he can eat
Most people don’t realize that Sage was my “first” in so many ways. For the little boy that was originally sold to a performance home back east he took me farther than any dog I have trained so far. He was my first owner handled BOB and American point in the breed ring. He was my first U-CD title, my first HCT, NF, OAJ, AX, AXJ, MXJ. He left this world with 9 MX legs .. guess he decided that he should leave something for the new kids to strive for. He was mom’s first litter that was born in our shared household.
I have so many good memories of my time with Sage and I will treasure them. He was such a happy worker and was willing to try anything I asked, except the dumbbell. He stumped more trainers with that one. The comments I used to get most by friends and strangers alike was what a happy dog he is. I will always remember the time we were showing in obedience and the judge forgot to stop us during the figure “8”. She told me later that she was just enjoying watching him work with that big smile he has and she simply forgot to tell us to stop.
I guess GOD decided he needed a little more joy and a smile that always made you feel as if you were the only person in the world. We will miss you little man but can find a small measure of comfort that you are once again the healthy and happy boy we remember.
